Annasalai

The length of principal road fetching from north Chennai to Little Mount at its southern end, Anna Salai is the city’s chief thoroughfare. The “garden houses” that related to Chennai is privileged stood on either side of it until fine into the premature years of the 20th century. Nowadays, it is a current commercial road, ruled with signs illustrating film stars, and the liberal homes of the precedent have been put backed by multistoried buildings.

Anna Salai starts on an island in Coolum Creek, just south of Fort St George. The place is observed over by the figurine of Sir Thomas Munro, the governor of the Madras Presidency from 1819 to 1826. Close by, put in a vastness of foliage, is the impressive Gymkhana Club. Located near to the army headquarters, this was an elite ability for military officers. Until 1920, its membership was classified to garrison officers merely and, even nowadays, the club positions belong to the armed services.
